Take a girl child to school
Restoring hope through education.

The Border Rural Committee (BRC) proudly presents the #TakeAGirlChildGBVFSurvivorToSchool campaign, a powerful initiative focused on supporting girl children in the Eastern Cape who have survived Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).

Through this campaign, BRC will provide educational support to 30 girl survivors, helping cover needs such as school fees, uniforms, transport, nutrition, and learning materials, from early childhood to Grade 12. This initiative is part of BRC’s broader GBVF response strategy and builds on our active support to 14 safe spaces and Victim Empowerment Centres (VEPs) across all districts and metros in the province.

Why It Matters

Rural women and girls face multiple layers of marginalisation, including poverty and violence. Many survivors remain in abusive situations due to economic dependency. By providing access to education, this campaign gives girl children a chance to heal, thrive, and build independent futures.

Our Reach

Beneficiaries will be selected from all 6 districts and 2 metro municipalities of the Eastern Cape in collaboration with local VEPs and a dedicated advisory committee, including:

  • Amathole, OR Tambo, Chris Hani, Alfred Nzo, Joe Gqabi, Sarah Baartman.
  • Buffalo City and Nelson Mandela Bay Metros.

How You Can Support

We are calling on the private sector and the broader public to partner with us in transforming lives. Your contribution, whether financial, material, or technical, can help us change the future for these brave young girls.

Together, let’s take girl children from survival to success.
